Veterans’ crosswalk gets the green light in Midland

King Street in Midland will soon honour its veterans.

Midland council has given the nod to staff to proceed with the installation of a Veterans’ Memorial Crosswalk on the north side of King Street at the Ellen Street intersection.

The preferred method of construction will be preformed thermoplastic. The town will rehabilitate the asphalt through funds from the Public Works Capital Reserve.

Midland staff provided council with a report detailing the feasibility and the costs for the Veterans’ crosswalk.

Staff have met with representatives from the Royal Canadian Legion and reported back to council with findings and the recommendation.

The cost for the installation of crosswalk is $22,000. The memorial will need replacement every seven to 10 years averaging out to an average annual cost of $3,142 per year for replacement every seven years.
