Utopia man wins over $600,000 with RVH 50/50 draw

Bryan Goruk of Utopia, Ont., accepted his cheque from Lise McCourt, RVH Auxiliary president, after winning $606,952 in the August RVH Auxiliary 50/50 community draw.

A Utopia man has won big in the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre Auxiliary’s Community 50/50 jackpot, taking home $606,952.

Bryan Goruk was overjoyed to accept the cheque, citing the hospital’s life-changing care as the reason he gives back through the 50/50 draw.

“We buy 50/50 tickets because RVH truly changed our lives,” Goruk said. “After I suffered a back injury, the incredible team at RVH quickly caught and diagnosed the problem. Thanks to their fast action, care, and expertise, I made a full recovery — and I can walk today because of them.”

RVH Auxiliary President Lise McCourt congratulated Goruk and his wife Amy, long-time supporters of the draw.

“Our heartfelt congratulations go out to Bryan,” she said. “Bryan and his wife Amy have been purchasing tickets for the RVH Auxiliary 50/50 Draw since the very beginning. We deeply appreciate their continued support and are absolutely thrilled for them.”

The proceeds from the draw will support the hospital’s $5-million pledge to enhance health care services, including funding for a much-needed third MRI machine.

“Your support in purchasing tickets means our patients win as we raise much-needed funds for RVH,” said McCourt.

The next grand prize draw is scheduled for September 25, with $35,000 in early bird prizes up for grabs every Thursday this month. Tickets are available online or in person until September 24.
