Kim Phillips
Journalist, CTVNews.ca Barrie
Kim Phillips is a journalist and Digital Lead with CTVNewsBarrie.ca, a position she has held since 2018. In this role, Kim specializes in sourcing, writing, and editing local news stories for Simcoe County, Muskoka, northern York Region and surrounding areas. Before stepping into digital production, Kim spent over a decade in the news control room as a director and technical director, leading live broadcasts and specialty programming, including election coverage and the On the Road series. Kim also spent five years as a director with the Business News Network (BNN) in Toronto, where she worked on several business shows such as Money Talk, Market Call, The Close, and The Street. She also directed a variety non-business-related programming, including digital lifestyle show App Central and the national series Dr. Marla and Friends. However, not all her time was spent behind the camera. Early in her career, Kim spent a year as a videographer, where she honed skills in editing, reporting and researching various local topics of interest to the community. Kim takes a lot of pride in training and mentoring her colleagues and believes there is great value in learning something every day. A southern Ontario native, Kim graduated from Broadcast Television at Mohawk College. She speaks English.
