School bus cancellations impact several schools

School buses have been cancelled in Meaford and Thornbury Tuesday morning due to inclement weather and poor driving conditions.

Buses operated by First Student - Owen Sound and Martin’s Transit will not be running as scheduled, impacting transportation for students attending Beaver Valley Community School, Georgian Bay Community Schools (both elementary and secondary), Notre Dame Catholic, East Ridge Community School, Owen Sound District Secondary School, St. Mary’s High, St. Basil’s, and several Georgian Dual Credit programs.

Environment Canada issued a snow squall warning for the area Tuesday morning, noting poor visibility in snow and local blowing snow.

The weather agency stated in its advisory driving could be hazardous. “Visibility will likely be suddenly reduced to near zero at times. Roads and walkways will likely be difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.”
