Road ranking in CAA’s Worst Roads list to undergo necessary upgrades

After topping CAA’s 2025 Worst Roads list for central Ontario, 7th Line in Innisfil is now set for both short-term repairs and a major long-term overhaul.

In a social media post last week, Mayor Lynn Dollin said the town had awarded a contract to Georgian Paving to fix the stretch of 7th Line between Yonge Street and 20th Sideroad.

“Council has been hearing from a number of residents about the condition of the 7th Line,” the mayor wrote on Oct. 1.

The $1.56 million project is expected to wrap up by mid-November.

The Town says the section east of 20th Sideroad to Lake Simcoe will take longer to fix, and is part of a larger project to completely rebuilt the road.

“The work east of the 20th has been split into a separate project as it requires more time before being ready to tender,” Dollin added.

Tatham Engineering Limited is handling the design for the long-term improvements, which will include a safer road, sidewalks, multi-use paths, new crossings, and better drainage. Property work and utility relocations are planned through the remainder of this year into next, with full construction expected to start in 2027 and wrap up by fall 2028.
