Motorcyclist rushed to hospital following crash along Hwy 11. at Hwy. 400

An early morning motorcycle crash closed a section of Highway 11 northbound in Oro-Medonte on Sunday.

The crash happened just after 2 a.m. near Highway 400 and Penetanguishene Road. Provincial police and emergency crews responded to the single-vehicle collision involving one motorcycle rider.

Highway 11 northbound was closed at Highway 400 and Penetanguishene Road for several hours as police investigated and crews cleared the scene.

Police say the road closure also impacted cleanup from a separate collision in the area involving an impacted police cruiser.

The rider was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The road was fully reopened around 8 a.m.
