Mother Nature has her knickers in a knot over Central Ontario

Up to 15 centimetres of blowing snow and snow squalls is expected across Simcoe County.

Mother Nature seems to be having a mid-life crisis.

One day it’s warm – March 9 it hit 18 degrees Celsius– the next day we’re shovelling or unwillingly skating across our driveways on a thinly disguised sheet of ice.

It was plus 5 C Monday morning, yet we’re expecting snowmageddon by tonight.

Environment Canada is calling for snow squalls across Central Ontario tonight and into Tuesday.

We’re looking at lake-effect squalls with 20 to 40 centimetres of snow possible, which can only mean heavy blowing snow that makes travel dangerous.

And to top it all off, there will be wind, lots of it.

The squalls from Lake Huron and Georgian Bay bring westerly and northwesterly winds expected to gust between 70 to 90 kilometres-per-hour.

All joking aside, Environment Canada says “Travel may be extremely hazardous. Road closures are possible. Prepare for the possibility of quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions.”

• Barrie - Collingwood – Hillsdale
• Orillia - Lagoon City - Washago
• Newmarket - Georgina - Northern York Region
• Innisfil - New Tecumseth – Angus
