All’s well that ends well for a student sonographer whose tires were stolen from his vehicle while he and his family slept. Bryce Hardy posted to social media Thursday evening to say the tires were successfully located and retrieved. He told CTV News he’d walked out of a Cochrane, Alta., home that morning to discover his vehicle propped up on blocks and stripped of its tires. It wasn’t a great start to his day. Hardy’s a practicum student at the vascular clinic near the Peter Lougheed Centre in Calgary, from SAIT’s diagnostic medical sonography program. He’s not paid for that work. And his in-laws’ house in Cochrane is where he, his wife and their young son stay to save money. Which is to say the cost of replacing four tires on the fly is not a small hit. “We’re not exactly flowing in dough at our house,” he told CTV News. “We’re just a small, young family that need their tires.” But then… Hardy’s luck changed Thursday evening. He followed up his original social media post regarding the theft with one providing far more favourable news. “We were able to successfully locate the stolen tires and have them retrieved by the RCMP officer working our case,” he said. Hardy also offered thanks to everyone from the community who got involved. “Though this morning felt extremely stressful, the amount of incredible and generous individuals who offered us help in the form of information, tires and rims and just words of support was absolutely amazing,” he said.
