MNR warns of elevated water levels in Bracebridge

But the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) has issued a watershed conditions statement for water safety along the Muskoka River.

The Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) has issued a watershed conditions statement for Bracebridge, Minden and Parry Sound as it reports elevated water levels in Lake Muskoka.

The ministry is encouraging residents, visitors and boaters to use “extreme caution” near dams as recent water levels may have affected safety booms, signage, barriers and other safety features.

It adds, residents can expect water levels to decrease in many areas with some locations begging to stabilize. However, the use of forest access roads for outdoor activities should be done so with caution as seasonal weather may have damaged the path and left some roads unpassable.

Similarly, the ministry warns that stream banks and fast-flowing cold water could create hazardous conditions around all bodies of water. Residents are reminded to maintain close supervision of children and pets.

The MRN says watershed conditions the statement will remain in effect until May 22.
