Gateway Casinos and Entertainment went all-in with its $50 million renovation at the Western Fair District, gambling that expanded dining and gaming options will continue to grow the venue’s popularity. On Thursday, Cascades Casino London officially marked the completion of a 27 month phased renovation. The casino boasts an additional 14,000 sq. ft. of space, including a Match Eatery and Public House, a Chow Lucky Noodle Bar, 18 table games, 900 slots, and a new sportsbook lounge. “We are extremely pleased to launch our very first Pro Line Plus Sportsbook Lounge here at Cascades London,” said Tolek Strukoff, CEO of Gateway Casinos and Entertainment. Over 300 people are now employed at the casino, including 80 new jobs since the renovation. “Those are real jobs that will support families, strengthen local businesses, and help drive economic growth through our community,” said Kurt Holman, MP London-Fanshawe. Mayor Josh Morgan spoke about the proximity of the newly renovated casino to other recent investments in recreation and entertainment in the area. “This is really becoming an entertainment district in our city, and I think we can start to think about whether we want to brand it that way,” Morgan said. “It’s definitely a benefit to the Old East Village, but more so, it’s becoming a place for people to come and be entertained in our city.” Since opening in 1999, a revenue sharing agreement has paid the City of London more than $107 million as a host city.
