People are all hopped up to play cricket in Barrie

The Barrie Arts and Sports Academy is hosting its second annual Super League Barrie Season 2 cricket league try-outs on May 9 at Maitland Park.

More than 170 people have registered to attend the official player trials this weekend.

The excitement surrounding the league has extended beyond players, with several local business owners stepping forward to support the initiative through franchise ownership.

“The level of support we have received in such a short period has been truly incredible,” said Nithin Liviero, president of the Barrie Arts & Sports Academy.

“Seeing both players and local businesses come together around this vision is a proud moment for our city and for the cricket community. We believe this is only the beginning, and we are excited to continue growing the sport in Barrie year after year,” he said.

The Super League Barrie Season 2 is scheduled to run from June 20 to July 11 and is expected to feature a highly competitive cricket experience bringing together players, families, businesses, and sports enthusiasts from across the region.
