Construction worker, driver injured in Highway 16 crash

RCMP said an SUV crashed into a scissor lift platform when a worker was standing on the lift at Highway 16 and Highway 60 on Thursday.

Westbound Highway 16 near Acheson was closed early Thursday morning because of a crash involving construction equipment.

An SUV collided with a scissor lift work platform at the Highway 60 intersection sometime before 3 a.m., according to Parkland County RCMP.

A worker was standing on the platform.

Both they and the SUV driver were seriously injured, Mounties said.

Traffic is being rerouted north on Highway 60, according to 511 Alberta.
