Heat Warning in effect for Central Ontario

A heat warning has been put in place through most of Central and Southern Ontario.

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECC) put the warning in place just after 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning.

According to ECC, a heat event is expected over the weekend with day time highs reaching more than 30 degrees with the humidex pushing it closer to 40 degrees.

The affected regions include Barrie, as far north as Bracebridge and Port Carling regions, and as far south as Windsor.

Heat warnings are currently not in place in Huntsville and Haliburton.

ECC is reminding the public that hot temperatures can also result in poor air quality and for the public to be aware of the signs of heat exhaustion.

Symptoms include headache, nausea, dizziness, thirst, dark urine, and intense fatigue.
