Epcor says crews are working to repair a sinkhole that has closed a road in a north Edmonton neighbourhood. The sinkhole was reported to the utility provider Saturday in the area of 130 Avenue and 107 Street. “While the portion of the affected roadway has grown in size, we’ve continued to monitor the location as we advance a repair strategy,” said Epcor in a statement Monday evening. A worker on-site told CTV News Edmonton that the sinkhole was about 35 feet deep. Starting this week, crews will work to repair a large pipe that conveys flows to Edmonton’s Gold Bar Wastewater Treatment Plant, which will first see the deployment of equipment to re-route the flows in an effort to maintain service to customers. Once the repair is complete, the road will reopen, said Epcor. However, a timeline for the repair has yet to be determined. Updates will be made to community members as information becomes available.
