Head-on crash in Muskoka Lakes sends 6 to hospital

Emergency crews rushed to the scene of a serious head-on collision Tuesday morning in Muskoka Lakes that involved several people, including three children.

The crash happened around 7:45 a.m. on Muskoka Road 118 West near Leonard Lake Road, south east of Milford Bay.

Paramedics told CTV News one woman in her 20s suffered life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to a trauma centre for treatment.

A man was also injured and taken to the local hospital along with three children who were hospitalized as a precaution. A second man, paramedics said, refused medical treatment at the scene.

Provincial police closed Muskoka Road 118 in both directions at Leonard Lake Road, between Milford Bay and Willow Beach for the investigation and to allow crews to work.

It’s unclear if the weather played a factor in the collision. The cause is under investigation.

Muskoka Road 118 was fully reopened at around 4:30 p.m.
