Multi-vehicle crash on Hwy 400 in Barrie sends 2 to hospital

One person was airlifted in critical condition and three other injured in a crash on Penetanguishene Road in Springwater Township.

A multi-vehicle collision on Highway 400 in Barrie Thursday night injured several people.

Ontario Provincial Police Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said the crash occurred just before 11:30 p.m. near the Essa Road ramp.

Schmidt said two people were sent to hospital with minor injuries. Three vehicles were towed and one drove away from collision, he said.

The highway was cleared a couple of hours later.

There is no word on the cause of the crash or whether any charges will be laid.
