Four arrested after attempted carjacking in Angus: OPP

Police say they charged four people in connection with an attempted carjacking in Essa Township last week.

Provincial police say officers were in Angus on Thursday afternoon when they spotted a drug deal between a group of people.

OPP says the accused individuals tried to “forcefully remove the victim from their vehicle but were unsuccessful.”

The alleged victim drove off heading south on Mill Street, police say, with the four accused in pursuit “at high rates of speed, weaving in and out of heavy traffic.”

Police intervened and arrested three people, a fourth person was taken into custody on Monday.

The accused individuals are a 62-year-old Barrie man, a 28-year-old Innisfil man, a 29-year-old from Cookstown, and a 28-year-old man from Vaughan.
