Break-in investigation underway at Orillia Square Mall, merchandise reportedly stolen

OPP investigate a break-in at Orillia Square Mall.

A break and enter investigation is underway at the Orillia Square Mall.

On Sunday, just after 11 p.m., police responded to an alarm that went off inside of a jewelry store located at the Brodie Drive mall.

When officers arrived, they noticed damage to the back entrance of the business indicating that someone had made their way inside.

Further investigation revealed that the display cases in the store had been damaged and merchandise was reportedly stolen.

Police allege a tool was also used during the crime and recovered at the scene. Officials were unable to track down any suspects during their probe.

The investigation remains ongoing, with assistance from the canine unit, emergency response team, and forensics.

Surveillance footage is also being reviewed at this time.
