The Bayshore Arena in Owen Sound will reveal some necessary upgrades to the public later this month. The project included replacing an aging ice pad, glass and safety netting, plus mechanical system upgrades. The province kicked in $915,000 to support roughly half the cost of the renovations. "Bayshore is looking better than ever + arena upgrade project is on schedule & on budget," the City of Owen Sound stated in a social media post on Thursday. Construction work on the arena, built in 1983, started in May. The City says the public will be welcomed back for the Owen Sound Attack home opener on Sept. 27. The Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre is home to the Owen Sound Attack Major Junior Hockey Club, along with the North Stars Junior and Senior Lacrosse teams. The venue also hosts trade shows, concerts, weddings and community events.
