Barrie Police are seeking a suspect in connection with what was initially believed to be an armed robbery. It happened around 5 a.m. on Thursday, when a man left his home area of Sylvia Street and Bernick Drive. As the resident was leaving, he noticed a man standing in his driveway. The suspect then allegedly pointed a gun at the resident. According to police, the two of them began to scuffle and during the fight, the resident dropped his phone. Police claim the suspect grabbed the phone and took off running and jumped a fence into a backyard as he made his way to Georgian Drive. The suspect is then seen on surveillance footage around 5:20 a.m. being picked up by a four-door grey sedan. In the footage the vehicle is seen travelling toward Duckworth Street in the direction of Cundles Road. When officers later searched the area, they recovered the stolen phone and an airsoft gun. The victim was uninjured during the altercation, but police believe the robbery may have been targeted. Police are now looking to the public to help them with the investigation as they seek to identify the suspect, the driver and the vehicle. Anyone with information or footage of the incident is asked to contact Barrie Police.
