Barrie driver busted going 101km/h in a 50 zone along Essa Road, police say

A 46-year-old Barrie man is facing stunt-driving charges after police say he was caught driving more than double the speed limit on Essa Road.

According to Barrie police, the driver was clocked travelling 101 kilometres uphill in a posted 50 km/h zone around 8 a.m. on Friday.

Officers conducted a traffic stop and determined the speed met the threshold for stunt driving under Ontario’s Highway Traffic Act.

The man was charged with speeding and stunt driving.

Police also say they issued a 30-day driver’s licence suspension and impounded the vehicle for 14 days.
