OPP divers help with investigation at Port of Orillia

Provincial police and OPP divers investigate at the Port of Orillia Thursday.

Police are saying very little about an investigation in Orillia on Thursday that required the help of the Underwater Search and Recovery Unit.

There was an increased presence of officers in the area of Lightfoot Drive between Mississaga Street East and Coldwater Street East at the Port of Orillia.

While provincial police haven’t provided much in the way of details about the situation, they did confirm there was no threat to public safety.

Officers cleared the area shortly after 2 p.m. but said the investigation remains ongoing.
