$1.2 million bridge reconstruction project gets underway in Lagoon City

A $1.2 million bridge reconstruction project will get underway next week in lagoon City.

The Township of Ramara is alerting residents and visitors that reconstruction of Bridge 201, located on Poplar Crescent is scheduled to begin Sept. 22.

“We know this bridge closure will be an inconvenience for local residents and visitors in the area, and we appreciate your patience,” said Mayor Basil Clarke. “Our priority is ensuring this critical piece of infrastructure is renewed safely and efficiently, while keeping the community informed throughout the process.”

The resurfacing includes replacing the existing bridge culverts, undertaking structural repairs, and improving the guide rails and road surface. The project was awarded to Four Brothers Construction by Ramara Council in July.

Officials say Bridge 201 will be closed to traffic during the construction phase. A signed detour route will be in place to guide motorists around.

Construction is anticipated to be completed by mid-December, according to officials.

The Bridge 201 reconstruction project is funded in part by the Government of Canada through the Canada Community-Building Fund.
