A plane made an emergency landing near Saskatoon after running out of fuel, police say.

Corman Park Police Service says its officers and RCMP were called Tuesday evening after NAV CANADA’s Saskatoon Control Tower reported a possible aircraft crash near Lutheran Road and Range Road 3072.

When officers arrived, they found the aircraft had not crashed.

Police say the pilot experienced fuel exhaustion resulting in a loss of engine power and made an emergency landing on the roadway.

No one was injured, and there was no damage to the aircraft, the road or nearby infrastructure.

Police say the pilot was able to land safely under difficult conditions. The aircraft’s owner later brought fuel to the scene. The plane was refuelled and returned safely to its departure airport.

According to police, the Transportation Safety Board of Canada has been notified.
