A 75-year-old woman has died after being hit by a transport truck in a parking lot in Montague, P.E.I. RCMP said officers were called Friday around 1:30 p.m. for a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in a parking lot near the Superstore. Police said the woman was initially rushed to the hospital in Charlottetown, but was later transferred to the QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax. Just before noon Saturday, police said they were told by the Halifax coroner’s office that the woman had passed away. “The investigation is ongoing and our thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends at this difficult time,” said police in a news release Saturday. Following the collision, police said a traffic reconstructionist attended the scene and RCMP gathered statements from witnesses. Island EMS and the Montague Fire Department also attended the scene.
