Drugs, illegal cigarettes, $300K in cash seized in Charlottetown: P.E.I. RCMP

A man is facing 19 charges after police on Prince Edward Island allegedly seized “a large amount of drugs,” illegal cigarettes, and hundreds of thousands of dollars.

The Joint Enforcement Team executed a search warrant at a residence and storage unit in Charlottetown last Friday, reportedly seizing:

• approximately $300,000 in cash
• more than 930 grams of cocaine
• around 600 grams of crystal meth
• 8,650 methamphetamine pills, roughly 3.75 kilograms
• 50,600 illegal cigarettes
• 22-calibre handgun, prohibited weapons and ammunition
• drug paraphernalia

“Cocaine and meth are typically sold in half gram to 1-gram amounts, so a seizure of this size is considered a very significant quantity,” reads a news release from RCMP.

Police say Shawn Gregory Decourcey has been arrested and faces the following charges:

• two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking
• two counts of unsafe storage of firearms
• five counts of possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
• five counts of unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon
• possession of weapons while prohibited to do so
• possession of break-in tools
• two counts of illegal sale of tobacco products
• possession of illegal tobacco

“A take down of this nature represents a real hit to drug traffickers and has a huge impact getting illegal drugs off Island streets,” says Kevin Lewis, commanding officer of P.E.I. RCMP.
