A man has died after what police say was an altercation at a prison in Gravenhurst on Saturday night. The OPP says it’s investigating the death of Devon Paskimin, 45, from Gravenhurst following an incident at Beaver Creek Institution. According to reporting from CTV News in Saskatchewan, Paskimin was serving a life sentence for second-degree murder. In December 2005, Paskimin was convicted by a judge of holding a man who was stabbed five times. He had no parole eligibility for 14 years. Police say shortly after 8:30 p.m., Bracebridge OPP was called to the altercation that had happened earlier in the day involving inmates. According to authorities, Paskimin was transported to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Police say there will be a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.
