Youth arrested for alleged threats made against students at Amherst, N.S., high school

A 16-year-old has been arrested following an investigation into alleged threats against several people at Amherst Regional High School in Nova Scotia.

Amherst police say the youth, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is facing two counts of uttering threats.

The youth allegedly made threats including harming several people, including students at the high school.

Police say they executed a search warrant on Friday at a residence in Cumberland County. The youth was taken into custody and held for court.

“Police are notifying the individuals who were subject of the alleged threats,” a release from Amherst Police Department said. “Police do not believe there is any ongoing danger to students or staff at Amherst Regional High School or that there is anyone else involved in this incident.”
