SkyHawks will parachute into Shearwater, N.S., for Highway of Heroes tribute

The Canadian Armed Forces Parachute Team – better known as the SkyHawks – will land at the 12 Wing Shearwater sports field on Saturday as part of the annual Highway of Heroes Nova Scotia Tribute Ride.

The free event, which honours Canadian veterans and those still in service, kicks off at 11 a.m. People can attend anytime after 9 a.m.

Parking will be available at the Shearwater Fitness and Sports Centre and the Shearwater Arena.

Following the parachuting event, two Royal Canadian Air Force CF-18 Hornets will conduct a flyby around noon. There will also be a flyby over the Rath Eastlink community centre in Truro around 3 p.m.

The 36 Canadian Brigade Group will conduct an artillery salute at Shearwater around 1 p.m. No live ammunition will be used.

This is the 9^th year for the Highway for Heroes Nova Scotia Tribute Ride, an escorted procession of cars and motorcycles from Shearwater to Truro.
