Second person charged with second-degree murder in connection to Halifax man’s death

A second man has been charged in connection with the death of a Halifax man.

A second person has been charged with second-degree murder in connection to the death of a man in Halifax last week.

Emergency crews responded to a report of an injured man at a home on Richmond Street around 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 29.

Life-saving measures were performed but the man was pronounced dead.

Police identified the victim as 70-year-old Brian David Johnson of Halifax.

An autopsy was performed the next day and his manner of death was confirmed to be homicide.

Investigators did not believe Johnson’s death was a random incident.

Police say Timothy James Jefferies was arrested around 3 p.m. Thursday in Halifax in connection with Johnson’s death.

The 57-year-old is facing a charge of second-degree murder.

He is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court on Friday.

Jefferies is the second person to be charged in connection with the case.

Derrick Eugene Munroe was arrested around 8:15 p.m. Tuesday at his Halifax home and charged with second-degree murder.

The 56-year-old was scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court on Thursday.

Police say they do not anticipate further arrests.
