Police arrest 2 near Antigonish, seize drugs, guns, motorcycles: N.S. RCMP

The Antigonish/Guysborough Street Crime Enforcement Unit (SCEU) has reportedly seized drugs and firearms during the execution of two search warrants near Antigonish, N.S.

According to RCMP, they also recovered two motorcycles and arrested two people.

“The VINs on the motorcycles appeared altered and the ignitions have been tampered with,” reads an RCMP news release.

Officers attended residences on Summerside Road in Heatherton and Williams Point Road in Antigonish on Thursday as part of an ongoing investigation.

“During the searches, officers arrested two people and seized drugs (cocaine and methamphetamine), firearms, and two motorcycles from one of the residences,” reads the release.

“At the other residence, officers seized prohibited weapons and a quantity of cash.”

Raymond James “RJ” Kerwin is being charged with 25 total offences, including:

• possession of cocaine for the purposes of trafficking

• possession of methamphetamine for the purposes of trafficking

• multiple firearms offences

His first court appearance was on Friday at Antigonish provincial court and he remains in custody pending his next appearance.

The other person arrested was released on conditions pending a future court appearance set for Aug. 26 at Antigonish provincial court.

The Antigonish /Guysborough SCEU led the search warrant executions with support from Nova Scotia RCMP. An auto theft investigator is engaged to support the investigation.

“Officers are looking forward to returning these vehicles, a Harley Davidson and a Yamaha, to their proper owners,” says RCMP.
