N.S. RCMP arrests 2 men for alleged threats of violence at courthouse

The Nova Scotia RCMP has arrested two men for alleged threats to commit violence at a courthouse following the seizure of several firearms in an unrelated investigation.

Police say they learned two men allegedly threatened to take firearms to a courthouse with the intention to commit violence on June 18. The comments were made in April and reported to police two months later.

“Officers were aware that a search warrant executed in May associated to an unrelated investigation resulted in the seizure of multiple firearms, ammunition, and other weapons from a residence associated to one of the men,” an RCMP news release reads.

“There was no evidence that either person had obtained additional firearms following that seizure.”

Police arrested the two men last Sunday.

Chanse Roger Durling, 41, is facing five counts of uttering threats. He appeared in court on Monday and remains in custody.

The second man, who police did not name, was released on conditions pending a court appearance on July 13.
