Nova Scotia’s Geordie Brown releases debut rock single

Nova Scotian singer Geordie Brown will be a guest vocalist for Foreigner for their Canadian tour.

Nova Scotia’s own Geordie Brown is about to live out a rock and roll dream.

The Dartmouth singer, actor and director has been invited to join Hall of Fame rock band Foreigner as a guest vocalist on their upcoming cross-country Canadian tour.

Brown first connected with the group in 2018 when he was cast in Jukebox Hero: The Musical, a stage production built around Foreigner’s biggest hits. That opportunity recently turned into something bigger.

“About a year and a half ago, I unexpectedly got a call from Foreigner’s manager, checking in,” said Brown in an interview with CTV Atlantic’s Katie Kelly. “They also threw out this idea that I might go on the road with them.”

The tour coincides with another milestone for Brown - the release of his debut rock single Won’t You Come With Me. The song was originally recorded by Dartmouth band Titan, which included Brown’s father, Steve “Jug” Brown, as a founding member.

The new version, recorded at Fang Recording Studio in Dartmouth, brought together a mix of East Coast musicians and reunited members of Titan.

“I think my dad thinks it’s super,” said Brown. “He was just grinning the whole time we were recording, and it was also a reunion for him and the Titan guys to be back in the studio together.”

The track is accompanied by a music video and behind-the-scenes documentary.

“I love putting projects together, especially ones that have a tie to the East Coast,” said Brown. “The fact that I was able to do that while also riding this wave of feeling like a rock star has been super fulfilling.”

Brown will perform with Foreigner for four Atlantic Canadian dates: Oct. 21 in St. John’s, Oct. 23 in Sydney, Oct. 24 in Halifax, and Oct. 25 in Moncton.
