Nova Scotia Health releases latest Need a Family Practice Registry numbers

The number of Nova Scotians in need of a primary care provider continues to go down, according to the province’s health authority.

Nova Scotia Health says there were 77,526 people on the Need a Family Practice Registry as of Oct. 1.

There were 84,069 Nova Scotians on the registry as of Sept. 1 – a decrease of 6,543 people.

“This number accounts for those newly added to the registry, those removed because they were attached to a family doctor or nurse practitioner, or those removed because they were found to no longer need a family doctor or nurse practitioner for a variety of reasons,” reads a Tuesday news release from the authority.

The current percentage of the province’s population on the registry is 7.3.

Nova Scotia Health says it will update the registry early next month.
