Man facing more than 30 charges for liquor store thefts: N.S. RCMP

The RCMP has arrested a man for allegedly stealing from multiple NSLC stores.

A 35-year-old man is facing more than 30 charges after several liquor stores were robbed in the Halifax area.

Officers responded to the Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation (NSLC) location on Forest Hills Parkway in Cole Harbour, N.S., around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Police say security staff at the store denied entry to a man they believed was responsible for multiple alcohol thefts.

Once RCMP arrived, they found the man in the parking lot and arrested him.

Wilfred Lataz Smith of Dartmouth was then taken to the Cole Harbour RCMP detachment.

Police say they believe he is responsible for numerous thefts from NSLC locations throughout the Halifax Regional Municipality.

Smith is charged with:

• theft under $5,000 (11 counts)
• possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 (11 counts)
• breach of probation (nine counts)

Smith appeared in Dartmouth provincial court on Thursday and was released on conditions pending a future appearance in court.
