Man charged in Kentville, N.S., drug trafficking investigation: police

A Kentville, N.S., man has been charged following a drug trafficking investigation.

The Kentville Police Service said police began an investigation this month into cocaine trafficking in the downtown area. On Oct. 23, police conducted a search warrant and arrested a man.

Police were assisted in the search by the Bridgewater Police Service dog services and the Integrated Street Crimes Enforcement Unit.

Police said a number of items were seized, including:

• a quantity of cocaine
• cash
• an electronic weigh scale
• two replica firearms
• other evidence of trafficking

Sylvesson Byers, 23, has been charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

Police said he is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 30.
