HRM announces development of new suburban plan

The Halifax Regional Municipality announced Tuesday it is developing a suburban plan it says will guide growth in suburban areas.

A number of open houses are scheduled so residents can learn about the suburban planning process and give feedback on key issues and opportunities. The same information will be available in each session.

Sessions for the open houses will take place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., and from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. They will be hosted at:

• Cole Harbour Place, 51 Forest Hills Parkway, Dartmouth on Jan. 19
• Horizon Recreation Centre, 168 Redoubt Way in Eastern Passage on Jan. 20
• Royal Canadian Legion Branch 95 (Bedford Legion) at 1772 Bedford Highway in Bedford, Jan. 26
• Canada Games Centre, 26 Thomas Raddall Drive in Clayton Park on Jan. 28
• Captain William Spry Library, 16 Sussex Street in Spryfield on Jan. 29
• Lakeside Fire Hall, 26 Myra Road in Timberlea on Feb. 2
• Sackville Sports Stadium, 409 Glendale Drive in Lower Sackville on Feb. 4

Residents are also invited to share their ideas and help influence the plan during the planning process through an online survey on the municipality’s website.
