Police say they have seized two cannabis shipments in Cape Breton with an estimated street value of more than $113,000. The RCMP began investigating on July 24 after boxes of suspected illegal cannabis were shipped from Ontario. The force learned of a second shipment a week later, also originating from Ontario. Police say both shipments were confirmed to be illegal cannabis products and they were seized. “As part of their operating procedures, courier companies report any packages they identify as containing illegal goods to law enforcement,” says Northeast Traffic Services–Cape Breton Cpl. Gary McLaughlin in a news release. “This is instrumental in helping police intercept shipments of illegal goods.” Police say their investigations are ongoing and no charges have been laid at this time.
