Young moose put down in Moncton due to poor health

A moose wandering through Moncton has been put down.

A young moose that was wandering through Moncton over the weekend was euthanized due to its poor health.

The moose was seen roaming throughout Moncton neighbourhoods on Saturday, according to Nick Brown from the Department of Natural Resources. The moose was later found near a fence and building.

“The moose appeared to be in poor health, likely affected by winter tick infestation, a condition that is not uncommon in southern New Brunswick,” Brown said. “Due to ongoing risks to public safety and its poor condition, a decision was made to euthanize the moose.”
