Saint John police investigating arson after ‘explosion’ on Queen Street

The Saint John Police Force is investigating an alleged arson in the uptown area.

The Saint John Police Force is investigating an alleged arson after a reported explosion in the uptown area on Saturday night.

Officers responded to the explosion in the 70-block area of Queen Street around 10:28 p.m. They discovered an active fire at the scene and saw people running from an apartment building.

The explosion damaged the building, but there were no reported injuries.

The Red Cross is providing emergency food and clothing to two people impacted by the fire.
