Police looking for suspect after girl allegedly assaulted in Fredericton park

Fredericton police are investigating a reported sexual assault at a city park.

Police in Fredericton say they are looking for a suspect after a girl was sexually assaulted in a Fredericton park over the weekend.

The Fredericton Police Force was called to Odell Park around 5 p.m. Saturday.

Police say the girl was assaulted while she was walking on a trail near the Rookwood Avenue entrance to the park in the Odell Lodge area.

The victim reported a man she did not know approached her from behind.

Police say she was then able to get away safely.

The man is described as being about 40 years old and under six feet with a medium build. He also reportedly has light grey and brown medium length curly hair.

Police say he was wearing a zip-up camouflage hoodie and baggy grey sweatpants as well as black gloves and hiking boots.

Officers searched the area but could not find the suspect.

Fredericton Police Force’s Special Crime Unit is investigating the case.
