RCMP in Moncton looking for shooting suspect after one man sent to hospital

A 45-year-old man was shot and hospitalized in Moncton Wednesday night.

The RCMP in Moncton, N.B., is looking for information from the public in connection with a shooting that sent one man to hospital.

Codiac Regional RCMP received a call about a shooting in a parking lot at Elmwood Drive and Vail Street around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

When officers arrived, police say a 45-year-old man was found with gunshot wounds. He was taken to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Through the investigation, police say officers learned a red SUV – possibly a Toyota Rav 4 – was seen pulling up to a residence minutes before the shooting.

“A passenger, who was wearing a face covering at the time, exited the vehicle and returned a short time later. The vehicle fled the scene before police arrived,” reads a news release from police.

Police say no suspect has been identified at this time, but officers are following up on several leads.

“We have no concerns for the public. We don’t believe it was a random incident,” said Codiac Regional RCMP Cpl. Dave Allard.
