N.B. man charged with armed robbery in Bass River home invasion

A 47-year-old man has been charged in connection with a home invasion in Bass River, N.B.

The RCMP responded to the home on Route 116 around 8:35 a.m. on Oct. 17.

“Two individuals entered the residence armed with a firearm and forcibly confined the resident for a period of time before fleeing with the victim’s pickup truck and all-terrain vehicle,” said the RCMP in a news release Monday.

“The resident sustained what were believed to be minor injuries and was treated at the scene. The pickup truck was later recovered.”

Police identified a person of interest and arrested him at a home on Pioneer Avenue in Moncton on Wednesday.

Stephen Cail was charged with robbery with a firearm and appeared in Moncton provincial court later that day.

He was remanded into custody and is due back in court on Nov. 12.

Police did not say whether they are still looking for the second person who was involved in the home invasion.

The investigation is ongoing.
