Halifax police issue arrest warrant for sunglasses shoplifter

Police have issued an arrest warrant for a woman suspected of stealing thousands of dollars worth of sunglasses from the Halifax Shopping Centre in June.

Police allege the woman entered the store, which specializes in sunglasses, on June 11 and took a number of sunglasses without paying for them.

They say the suspect returned to the store the next day and stole several more sunglasses.

Police estimate the stolen merchandise is worth more than $7,500.

Investigators released photos of the suspect on July 26 and asked for the public’s help in identifying her.

Police received several tips and were able to identify the suspect but they haven’t been able to locate her.

An arrest warrant was issued Friday for 49-year-old Laura Ann Zwicker of Halifax.

She is facing charges of theft under $5,000 and possession of stolen goods.
