Sea beans and fried rabbit? A look at the expected food trends of 2014

Kale and pork belly are so 2013. If you want to sound fantastically food-forward for 2014, here’s a list of foods and words you should know.
Because according to a trendspotting report from San Francisco-based Andrew Freeman & Co., the foods anticipated to get buzz next year include pizzaritos (pizza slices rolled up like burrito), marine vegetables like sea beans and fried rabbit.
Here’s a list of the foods that defined 2013, and the foods that the Freeman report says will “break down barriers in 2014.”
- Cronut and ramen burger
- Fried quail
- Beertails (cocktails topped with beer)
- Pretzel buns
- Pork belly
- Weeds (sorrels and purslane)
- Ice cream sandwiches
- Sea beans
- Fried rabbit
- Edible trees and firs
