‘X-Men’ star heading to Winnipeg Comiccon

A star actress in one of the most popular comic book film series is coming to Winnipeg on Halloween.

Organizers of Winnipeg Comiccon announced Famke Janssen as the first guest of this year’s event, which runs from Oct. 30 to Nov. 1.

Janssen is best known for playing Jean Grey/Phoenix in the “X-Men” film series and is set to reprise the role in “Avengers: Doomsday,” which is set to be released Dec. 18, 2026. The Dutch actress is also known for her role as Xenia Onatopp in the James Bond movie “Goldeneye” and the “Taken” trilogy of films alongside Liam Neeson.

Organizers say Janssen is currently scheduled to appear on Oct. 31.

More guests will be announced in the coming weeks.
