Indoor trick-or-treating events taking place on Halloween in Winnipeg

With Halloween coming up and the weather cooling down, Winnipeggers may be looking for a safe spot for indoor trick-or-treating.

Several malls and community centres around the city are offering a chance for parents and kids to take part in Halloween festivities, while also avoiding any potential dangers and the cold weather.

The following is a list of safe, indoor Halloween events in Winnipeg.

Garden City Shopping Centre

Garden City Shopping Centre is bringing back its safe trick-or-treating event for another year.

The event will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 31, with select retailers handing out candy. The event will also feature dinosaur-themed activities and picture opportunities.

The mall notes that the event tends to be popular and candy can run out quickly. Candy will be given out while supplies last.

Grant Park Mall

Grant Park Mall is inviting little trick-or-treaters to its Halloween event on Oct. 31 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Kids are invited to go from store to store to collect treats and show off their costumes. There will also be a pumpkin carving contest in the centre court.

Kildonan Place

Kildonan Place invites young trick-or-treaters to head to the mall from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Halloween, where they can go to various stores and snag some goodies.

Outlet Collection Winnipeg

Outlet Collection Winnipeg is holding a free, family-friendly event on Oct. 31 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The event will include trick-or-treating stations, face painting, a haunted house phot-op and meet and greets with characters from ‘Wicked’ and ‘The Wizard of Oz.’

Treats will be available while supplies last. Visitors are asked to bring their own trick-or-treating bags.

St. Vital Centre

Trick-or-treaters are invited to the St. Vital Centre from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Halloween, where they can show off their costumes and collect goodies at participating stores.

The St. Vital Centre Kids Club will also be handing out to treats and treat bags in Mall 1 Court.

Visitors will also be able to take a picture with some Halloween guests, including Jack Skellington and Oogie Boogie.

East Elmwood Community Centre

Today’s Church is hosting a kids’ safe night at the East Elmwood Community Centre, located at 490 Keenleyside St., from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Halloween.

The event will feature games and candy. Adult supervision is required for children aged 10 and under.

Attendees are asked to not wear scary costumes.

Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre

Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre is hosting a safe Halloween event from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 31 at 363 McGregor St. Costume and makeup help will take place from 4 to 5 p.m.

Participants at the event will get the chance to trick-or-treat with the centre’s staff.

Weston Community Centre

Norwest on Alexander is hosting a Halloween celebration from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 31 at the Weston Community Centre, located at 1625 Logan Ave.

The event will include games, crafts, food, candy and raffle prizes.
