Ontario Provincial Police say threats made to a high school in Paris, Ont. turned out to be unfounded. A lockdown was initiated at Paris District High School after someone called in several weapons threats around 9:30 a.m. Friday. OPP responded to the school and warned the public there would be a large police presence around Grand River Street North while they investigated. Hold and secures were also put in place at two nearby schools. “This was done for everyone’s safety,” Sgt. Ed Sanchuk said in a social media video. In the end, police determined there was no reason to worry. “I want to reassure everyone in the community that there is no threat to any of the students, to faculty or to the community,” Sanchuk said. “We are continuing to investigate in an attempt to identify this individual that called in these threats.” The lockdowns at both schools were lifted by Friday afternoon.
