Winnipeg police are investigating a five-vehicle crash on a city street Monday morning that sent two people to hospital. According to police, the crash occurred in the westbound lanes of Ellice Avenue and Banning Street. Four vehicles were stopped at a red light when they were hit from behind by a 2017 Nissan Qashqai being driven by a man in his 70s. The driver, along with a female passenger were taken to hospital in unstable condition, but were later upgraded to stable. No other people with injuries needed hospitalization. Police said the force of the crash significantly damaged all vehicles, rendering them inoperable. The intersection was closed for a significant part of the day Monday as the traffic unit investigated. No arrests have been made.
