A woman has died after following an incident at Lake Ontario in Mississauga, police say. Peel Regional Police say at around 10:30 p.m. on Saturday night emergency services responded to a report of a woman who had reportedly been “swept into the water” at Jack Darling Memorial Park. The 22-acre green space is located in the Lorne Park neighbourhood at 1180 Lakeshore Rd. W., west of Mississauga Road. It has picnic areas, tennis courts, a leash-free zone, a native tallgrass prairie, a spray pad, a toboggan hill, trails, and an unsupervised beach. “Following search and rescue efforts, Mississauga Fire located the woman at approximately 11:15 p.m.,” investigators told CP24 on Sunday morning. They said she was transported to hospital where she was pronounced deceased. “At this time, we have not been able to locate and notify her next of kin,” a media officer said, adding a result, they are “unable to provide any further details regarding the deceased until that notification has taken place.”
